"I enjoy nature a great deal. My ongoing bird list, my butterfly collection, and my desire for nature walks attest to that fact. However, my choice of flowers as subject matter for paintings mostly has its roots elsewhere."

"My paintings reflect my fascination with and appreciation of basic elements of art. I'm attracted to the brilliance of spectacular color. I photograph my flower subjects in direct sunlight to capture not only that color but also the dramatic effects of light and dark that direct sunlight creates. I give my flowers form and substance, making my paintings very three dimensional. My oldest daughter summed it up best when she said 'You're not painting flowers, you're painting sculptures."

"As a result, my paintings appeal to a wide variety of art lovers. There are those who merely love beautifully portrayed flowers. I carefully choose colors that are currently being used in interior design for those who need the painting to match their decor. Because my paintings are stunningly unique and carefully and meticulously painted, they are popular with individuals who want their house to be a gallery of fine art. And lastly, the large size of many of my paintings not only adds to the stunning effect, but also appeals to owners of recently built houses which have high ceilings and broad wall spaces as well as office buildings and hotels."

"Born and raised in Minnesota, I took every art course available as I trained to be a high school art teacher in a small teacher's college in St. Paul. After teaching one year of high school, I continued my art education with a few courses at the University of Minnesota and U C Santa Barbara. After twenty-five years of working outside the art field, including becoming a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, circumstances allowed me to begin selling my paintings full time. I participate in art shows mostly in Florida and show in a limited number of galleries. I have lived with my family in the West Palm Beach area of Florida since 1989."
